From Worst to First:
Scott Doherty is a U.S. based Irish Dance World Champion originally from Boston, Massachusetts. Scott was trained by the world renowned Rita O’Shea, her daughter Lisa Chaplin, and the amazing team of teachers at the O’Shea-Chaplin Academy of Irish Dance. Scott’s story is unique - going from one of the last competitors in his age group to Senior Men’s World Champion in less than 5 years. He considers himself lucky that his hard work paid off and led to success in competitions as well as touring the world with many shows including Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. More recently, Scott started his own production company creating shows such as Rockin’ Road to Dublin, Christmas in Killarney, and many more to come!
Scott is not a registered T.C.R.G. and has written approval that he can work with any school as much or as little as needed without creating any associations or conflicts for everyone involved.

SERVICES
Dance Instruction
Whether it’s new tips & tricks, or finding ways to reinforce what teachers are always asking their dancers to do - sometimes just having a different voice in the room is enough to make a difference. I’m lucky that I was older when I “figured it out” so I have a unique understanding of how to connect with struggling Irish dancers. My specialty is getting the message through to them that with enough hard work, belief in themselves, and listening to their teachers - they can do it too!
Performance Workshops
Just like dancing itself, being a performer did NOT come natural to me. I had to learn how to break out of my shell and express myself on stage. I learned from so many amazing professional dancers in Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, Busch Gardens, and everywhere all over the world that passed their knowledge onto me. Now it’s a passion of mine to pass that knowledge on to other dancers. Performance Workshops benefit competition stage presence, dancers looking to pursue a career in Irish Dance shows, or even polishing your St. Patrick’s Day performances to attract new families to your school.
Choreography
Keeping up with trends and constantly creating new steps for dancers is a full time job in itself. Whether it’s a challenge for you, you don’t have a passion for new choreography, or you just simply don’t have time… all of these reasons are valid. I am lucky that Irish dancing is what I do 24/7. I LOVE creating new steps, making tweaks or additions, and coming up with show routines for performances or just for fun!
Virtual
Although nothing takes the place of teaching in person, like it or not, the pandemic has changed the way we operate. This has brought so many challenges to the dance world and it has been nothing short of inspiring to see teachers virtually innovating all over the world. Since my only goal is to help Irish dancers become better Irish dancers, any and every way I can assist are available virtually. From talks, to classes, to additional private lessons: I am thrilled to be able to assist teachers and dancers all over the world with considerably less costs.
What People Are Saying
Teachers
“We had Scott as an instructor at our summer camp, "Reels in the Rockies" in 2019. Scott is obviously a fantastic dancer, but being a good instructor goes far beyond dancing ability. At Reels in the Rockies, we look for instructors that can inspire dancers of all abilities, keep them motivated and most of all, be someone that can instill confidence. We found Scott to have all those attributes and more! Scott is always prepared, always energetic and always coming up with fun and exciting ways to keep our campers engaged. Scott's love and dedication to Irish Dance is clear in his teaching and that kind of passion is contagious. We would highly recommend Scott for any Irish dance workshop opportunities.”

Camp Directors - Reels in the Rockies
“Scott is a wonderful instructor and choreographer. His professional demeanor is always supportive and encouraging. Scott inspires our dancers to work hard, do their best, and stretch themselves to achieve more.”
— Andrea McCarney - Heart of Ireland School, Virginia
“Scott has always been very respectful of our program and our school culture and goals. He works to understand what our needs are and to help us in those areas. We have hired him for original choreography as well as to offer workshops on technique. One of the most important contributions he brings to our school is his upbeat personality and his ability to inspire and encourage all of our dancers no matter their age, their level, or their personal goals with Irish Dance. He’s become a great friend to our dancers and we’re thankful that we have been able to work with him.”
